GPs providing minor surgery and/or joint injection must undergo re-accreditation every three years in accordance with guidance from NHS England.
The Minor Surgery re-accreditation process consists of two parts: a theory course and a practical course. Our package, the FourteenFish Minor Surgery Online Package , provides the certificate of completion, the first part of the re-accreditation process. This allows users to attend a practical course.
We are now happy to announce that we have launched our very first practical course!
Minor Surgery Half a Day Practical Course
Joint Injection Half a Day Practical Course
The Minor Surgery Course
The course meets the DoH requirement (2014 DES minor surgery contract) for formal assessment of competency by the inclusion of Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) assessments.
After the success of our Online Minor Surgery Course, we have now launched The FourteenFish Minor Surgery Practical Course (the second part of the re-accreditation process).
The course covers Punch Biopsy, Cyst Removal, Shave Excision, Small Lesion, and Suturing, with the opportunity for those already competent to explore higher-level procedures with a practicing surgeon.
The Joint Injection Course
The FourteenFish practical Joint Injection Course is a half-day interactive practical course, designed for GP's at all stages of their career.
It will cover the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions associated with the elbow, shoulder, wrist, hand, and knee.
Both courses are half-day sessions and are available to book separately or together for £350. There are only 40 spaces available so make sure you book your place soon!
*WGPET members are entitled to a reduced rate under scheme C.*
These courses will be held at the Grand Harbour Hotel, West Quay Road, Southampton, SO15 1AG . The venue has been chosen for its accessibility by car, train, and ferry.
