- Would you like practical advice as well as coaching support to assist with the transition of being both a GP, becoming a parent and returning to work?
WESSEX LMCs MATERNITY COACHING ONLINE WEB COURSE IS AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT YOU!
Following the superb workshops ran in Wessex in 2018 & 2019, Wessex LMCs are delighted to bring a new offer, a full online and web-based version of maternity coaching!
PLEASE ATTEND ALL TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE COURSE
Starting on the Wednesday the 10th June 2020, 1-2pm (Initial introduction session, detailing the course structure and participation).
The course then runs for 4 weeks of online live webinars
Wednesday 17th June 1-2pm (Coaching) & 2-2.30pm (LMCs support session)
Wednesday 24th June 1-2pm (Coaching) & 2-2.30pm (LMCs support session)
Wednesday 1st July 1-2pm (Coaching) & 2-2.30pm (LMCs support session)
Wednesday 8th July 1-2pm (Coaching) & 2-2.30pm (LMCs support session and session round-up)
(Between the course you have access to support and online platforms, work at your own pace and reflect on your experiences, building connection with other peers)
The web-based course contains all the content of the full day workshop focused on practical and coaching needs which are specific to GPs surrounding maternity. The format will consist of a weekly group maternity coaching session together by a highly trained maternity coach Frances Cushway, who builds on your reflections and activities over the past week and Wessex LMCs GP Fellows who provide GP specific support. The online live sessions allow you to chat and share your experiences with others.
The benefits are that you get time to work through the material at your own pace, building support and connections in our weekly online coaching/LMC sessions. We also know how challenging it can be with child care commitments, so LEARN in your home environment. This is a supportive course that recognising your needs as a parent, so we welcome any children to join in with our live catch-up sessions!
The course is for qualified GPs who are either expecting a baby or other GP parents on parental leave at the time that the workshop is running. You must be a post-CCT GP working in the patch covered by Wessex LMCs. (If you fall outside of this, please email the course co-ordinator to see if you can be accommodated)

Maternity coaching supports women who are making the transition from pregnancy through maternity leave to return to the workplace. Pregnancy and maternity leave is an exciting and wonderful time and often navigating the balance between motherhood and career can be a unique challenge. Topics covered will include:
• Personal styles and approach to Career
• Confidence and Motherhood
• Managing the Home Contract
• Practical issues around the return to work and flexible working
• Keeping in Touch days, appraisal, indemnity, claiming child benefit and other issues which are unique to being a GP
• Long Term Career Plan
The LMC also provides practical advice and support throughout the course. This aims to reduce the complexity of being a GP on maternity leave and assisting you to make the best return to work possible.
