Wendy Thorogood will lead this half day which complies with Adult Safeguarding Training Level 3. Dr Laura Edwards, Medical Director at Wessex LMCs will be facilitating this session.

Aims

Safeguarding is a key part of training requirements for medical professionals and associated staff. These sessions will help you keep up to date and maintain your sense of ‘professional curiosity’ about all your patients. We will update you on policy changes that affect this area of your practice, and discuss hot topics that will help you keep your eyes open to identify patients who need support and intervention.

Objectives

Topics likely to be covered include:

  • Liberty Protection Standards and what it means for you and your patients
  • Domestic violence and the effects of the pandemic
  • Learning difficulties
  • Neglect
  • Human rights and the interplay with safeguarding
  • Partnership working and what is meant by that phrase in conjunction with adult safeguarding
  • Mental health and the COVID pandemic
  • What is meant by transitioning and the concept of ‘edge of care’

Please Note: This is 'Fundamental' level 3 training - if you have attended this course before there is no need to do so again, you can build your required hours using the 1 1/2hr Top Up sessions that are running throughout the year.
