Clinical Depression or Menopause – which is it?

Determining what might be a presentation of clinical depression, what might be a mood disorder caused by the perimenopause or menopause, and what might be a mix of both, can be a very challenging clinical dilemma. How we might best approach these patients can be difficult, but an increased understanding of the role of reproductive hormones on psychological wellbeing can be pivotal in achieving symptom relief for this patient group.

Hormone replacement therapy can play a substantial role in improving a depression in the perimenopause and menopause, often without the need to prescribe antidepressants. oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone can all play a vital role in brain function, and hence relief of, not only depressive symptoms, but also many other symptoms that a woman might be experiencing.

In this webinar Dr Louise Newson and Dr Clair Crockett will discuss the interplay between reproductive hormones and psychological symptoms and how this can help you manage your own patients.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
