Introduction

Learn how to use FeNO testing to improve asthma diagnosis and management within primary care - practical advice and real world examples for the jobbing GP and AHP.

Aims

FeNO is a safe, fast and non-invasive measure of airway inflammation characteristically seen in asthma. It can help provide a more accurate diagnosis of asthma in adults and children/young people. With poor asthma outcomes across the UK and a misdiagnosis rate of 30%, it is essential that we reduce the amount of guesswork that we currently rely on in the care of our patients with asthma and suspected asthma.

Objectives

This webinar will help bridge the gap between national guidelines and clinical practice by providing applied practical information on how to best use FeNO testing in primary care, offering case studies, real world examples, resources and access to national training.

  • Challanges of diagnosing Asthma
  • What is FeNO testing and why should we use it?
  • How to do a FeNO test
  • QOF and FeNO
  • Case Studies

Speakers

This webinar is delivered by National FENO experts in conjunction with Wessex Accademic Health Science Network

  • Thomas Brown – National FeNO clinical lead and Severe Asthma Centre lead, Portsmouth Hospital
  • Jacqui Simmonds - Respiratory Specialist Nurse, St Melor House Surgery
  • Joe Sladen, National FeNO programme Lead, AHSN Network and Associate Director, Wessex AHSN

Subsidised Booking Options

Wessex LMCs hold a number of funds for different organisations, specifically for training purposes. By using these funds, many of our 'members' are able to access training without direct recourse to Practice Funds.  It is important that you select the appropriate funding option in the booking process, so that we can assign your booking to the correct funding stream, and here is some guidance to help you decide.

All GPs and Members of Staff working within GP Practices in the Wessex LMCs' catchment area

Please use this option if you are working in a Practice in the Wessex LMC catchment area and do not fit into one of the other options on offer.  This option may, or may not, have a cost attached.

BaNES Staff

Bath & North East Somerset (BaNES) Practices have given Wessex LMCs some of their training budget, to be used for their staff (not GPs) only.  To access this funding you must be working in a Practice in Bath or North East Somerset and not be a GP.

BSW Staff - Clinical

We are delighted that, thanks in part to the BSW (BaNES, Swindon & Wiltshire) Training Hub, and part the NHSE Investment in Continual Professional Development, certain eligible roles such as Nurses and Allied Health Professionals, working in Swindon and Wiltshire Practices, are able to attend this course fully funded.  Please see the full list of Included and Excluded staff in the table below.   Please do not use this option if: 1) You are in a role 'Excluded from the Scheme' (see table below)  2) You are a GP.  3) You work in any role, except GP, in Bath or North East Somerset; please use the 'BaNES Staff' option above instead.

You can see more information about the scheme by clicking on this link: BSW Eligible Staff @ August 2022

Eligible Staff BSW Table @ July 2022

BSW Staff - Non Clinical

We are delighted that the BSW (BaNES, Swindon & Wiltshire) Training Hub have agreed to fund this course for managers & team leaders working in General Practice in, Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire (BSW).  To access this funding you must be a Manager or Team Leader in a Practice in Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon, or Wiltshire.

It may be worth asking your training hubs if they will fund it for you if you are in Dorset, North East Hants, or Farnham.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight - AHPs & Nurses

We are delighted that NHS South East have agreed to fund this course for all AHPs & members of the Nursing Team working in Practices in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. To access this funding you must be an AHP or member of the Nursing Team working in a Practice in Hampshire (excluding North East Hants) or the Isle of Wight.

Non Members

Please use this option if you are not working in a Practice in the Wessex LMCs catchment area.

NB: Unfortunately, some of your colleagues have previously booked places and not attended, preventing others from doing so.  It must be stressed that the above options are not ‘FREE’ they are funded from NHS monies, all of which must be accounted for.  If, therefore, you select one of these subsidised options, and do not attend, or fail to cancel more than 2 weeks in advance, you will be charged the full member delegate fee.  To cancel your booking please email: Lead@wessexlmcs.org.ukat least 14 days before the event date.
