The Peninsula Medical School is seeking to appoint an experienced General Practitioner, who is passionate about medical education and community care, to the role of Community Sub-Dean for the Plymouth and Torbay area. You will work closely with the Medical School team specifically the Pathway Leads, Hospital Sub Dean and the Clinical Liaison Team.
The role of Community Sub-Dean is pivotal in sustaining and improving a collaborative approach between the NHS and all healthcare professionals and Peninsula Medical School in the delivery of undergraduate education, primarily within the community of Plymouth but also East Cornwall, Taunton, South Hams & West Devon, and Torbay.
The post-holder needs to have good networking skills to develop a good relationship with the services and GP practices in the Plymouth and Torbay areas.
This is a key medical school role in developing, maintaining and quality assuring the delivery of the community curriculum across years 1-5 and the engagement and recruitment of GP and community healthcare providers. This is an exciting period of curriculum innovation and refinement due to medical school student expansion and the current challenges facing general practice provision. You should have a good understanding of the undergraduate medical curriculum and share and support the values and educational principles and pedagogic approaches of the Peninsula Medical School.
Exact contractual arrangements will be negotiated with the successful candidate who will have an employment contract or an honorary contract with University of Plymouth, depending on current employment situation. If you are already employed by the University, the role will be included in, or as an extension of, your present contract.
You will be paid as per the relevant clinical academic salary scale. The clinical consultant scale is from GBP 77,913 per annum to GBP 105,042 per annum, pro rata.
This is a part-time position working 16 hours / 2 days per week, however we would welcome applications for 1 day per week and would consider splitting this into two roles.
