We are a friendly, successful 8 partner practice in a busy market town, 15 miles from York in beautiful North Yorkshire. Located on the edge of the North York Moors and areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Derwent Practice serves patients in Malton, Norton, and the surrounding areas with a list size of over 20,500. Found to be ‘good’ in all areas by the CQC (Feb 2019), the practice strives to meet the needs of its patients by providing high quality care and services. We value teamwork, mutual support and a friendly working environment and are looking to expand our nursing team with the right individual who can combine clinical experience with these attributes.

A vacancy for a Practice Nurse has arisen within our busy and friendly nursing department at Derwent Practice. You will be a fully qualified and experienced nurse who is able to utilise your skills within Primary Care.

Specifically, we are looking for someone who has specialist knowledge and skills in the management of asthma and COPD, including the ability to support patients of all ages in managing their medication and educating or advising patients on appropriate techniques. You will have experience of conducting medication reviews and of chronic disease management, being willing to undertake further training as required.

You will be a caring and dedicated professional who is flexible and able to work independently under minimal supervision. You will have a demonstrable ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in wound care, phlebotomy, cervical cytology and immunisation is desirable but not essential as further training will be provided.

The post holder will need to keep abreast of national policy and clinical drivers, as well as local procedures and protocols. The post holder will need to have a willingness to access training and maintain registration with the NMC at all times.

Full time hours are available. Shifts range from 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday, plus additional hours and evening/weekend work on a rota basis. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
