Wansford Surgery is a thriving well established and independent Practice serving 8,000 patients across 120 square miles of rural territory nestling between Stamford to the North, Oundle to the South and Peterborough to the West. Stamford and Oundle are delightful stone Market Towns and Wansford grew up as an important staging post and river crossing on the main road north between Edinburgh and London. It is an idyllic, historic stone village.

We are an expanding 2 partner, 4 salaried doctor Training Practice. We have a diverse and innovative team comprising 1.6 WTE Prescribing Pharmacists, 2 Paramedics who do much of the front-line triage. We also have a Social Prescriber and are currently employing a Health Coach. We have a specialist Cardiology Nurse who also runs the Research Unit within the Surgery which is very active (RCGP Research Practice of the Year 2019. We have both a dispensary and our own pharmacy ( Chemist and Druggist Hybrid Pharmacy of the Year 2019) . We have extremely low visiting rates.

We believe in the values of ‘localism’ and knowing your patient list . We are committed to a very high standard of primary care and are rated ‘good’ by CQC . We achieve maximum QOF Points . We plan to take on more than one partner to improve resilience within the team .

We have developed a very flexible way of working during COVID with > 80 % of our patient contacts as remote : a mixture of telephone , Engage Consult ( Email) and video link. We have a mix of consultations in the surgery and from home . Administrative tasks are done flexibly to fit round our busy lives and family commitments – often from home. A healthy work life balance is very important to us .

We have many roles outside of the Practice : CCG Lead for the Elderly , Board Membership for South Peterborough PCN and for GPN ( Greater Peterborough GP Federation) . One partner is Research Lead for the CRN Eastern Region , LMC Member.

The current vacancy arises following the planned retirement of the senior partner after 31 years in the Practice .

His replacement will be an excellent clinican and innovative thinker. They will be kind and  compassionate , committed to a high standard of care . Ideally they will be a Trainer, or have an interest in becoming a Trainer and have an interest in Primary Care Research. They will have Leadership skills and be passionate about Primary Care.

We are willing to consider Full Time ( 8 sessions) or Part-time applications .
