Job overview
We are looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to provide a range of nursing services to our 8,300 patients. The individual will join our supportive, family orientated Practice team on either a full-time or part time basis. Flexible working will be considered.
The individual must be NMC registered.
Main duties of the job
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision. They should be able to build a rapport with patients and conduct their consultations to a high quality. It is imperative that they conduct themselves according to the Practice Code of Conduct whilst maintaining a professional and courteous service on and off site.
The candidate must (this list is not exhaustive):
- be able to communicate clearly and professionally
- have good team working skills and a flexible approach
- have proven experience as a qualification in Minor Illness
- be proficient with computers and record keeping (Vision or similar experience is required)
- Ideally have their prescribing qualification (although this is not essential and could be supported within the practice

- 3 Nurses
- 3 HCA's
- 1 Pharmacist
- Full Administrative / Reception Team
Job responsibilities
Primarily dealing with minor illness consultations both telephone and face to face including common conditions such as chest infections, sore throats, UTIs, wound infections, sinusitis and ear infections.
To undertake and oversee chronic disease management (i.e. asthma, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, COPD), incorporating progress-monitoring, response to treatment, reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and promoting the preventative aspects of nursing practice. To ensure all clinical domains and indicators for disease monitoring and health promotion (QAIF) are met.
To facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary education within the practice. To support students of any discipline undertaking a work placement at the practice.
Able to perform basic health checks and test including BP monitoring- including 24 hours, urinalysis, spirometry, phlebotomy, perform other routine laboratory tests, ECGs but these would not be the main scope of work.
Womens health care including cervical smears, vaginal swabs, contraception counselling, administration and monitoring and menopause management.
All aspects of wound care including doppler assessments and compression dressings, packing and management of infections.
Administer injections including flu, COVID, travel injections and baby vaccinations as per patient group direction.
Administration
Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team including audits and review of protocols and procedures
Attend and participate in clinical meetings as and when necessary
Professional & Personal Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously with support from the GPs and experienced practice nurses and participate in the annual appraisal process. This includes taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and continuing professional development plan for revalidation.
