Our organisation

YOR Local Medical Committee Ltd (YORLMC) is one of a unique group of organisations that exist across the country to represent and support NHS GPs and their practice teams.

YOR Local Medical Committee Limited (YORLMC Ltd) works in conjunction with YOR Local Medical Committee (YOR LMC) and is the professional voice for all NHS GPs and practice teams across the areas of North Yorkshire & York and Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale & Craven. YORLMC Ltd is a gateway to pastoral care and provides personal and totally confidential support for GPs and practices in difficulty or experiencing major change. It also provides personal advice and support for practices on a wide range of issues.

YOR LMC represents approximately 1600 GPs as well as 150 practices, covering a patient population approaching 1.5 million and is highly respected at local, regional and national levels.  It is supported by a Corporate Affairs Team, (CAT) which is responsible for the administration of all aspects of YOR LMC’s work.  This includes keeping GPs and practice teams informed of current issues relating to primary care and beyond.  The CAT leads on communicating important messages, producing regular guidance and newsletters and is responsible for corporate administration, membership, electoral services and finance.

The CAT is a small, highly focused and cross-supporting unit where individuals are expected to work autonomously and support colleagues as much as possible.  It provides dedicated support to all LMC Officers and Members and as it handles and has access to personal and sensitive information all members of the team are required to maintain confidentiality at all times.

YOR LMC’s Core Values:

  • to support and advise individual constituent GPs and practice teams on all matters that affect them in their professional lives
  • to provide individual constituent GPs and practice teams with a variety of services to give General Practice the support it needs
  • to ensure the development of General Practice to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to patients within the resources available
  • to encourage equality, diversity and inclusion in all its activities
  • to be truly representative of all sections of General Practice, and for everyone to feel respected and able to give their best

LMC Services Yorkshire CIC

Whilst all LMCs must retain their core purpose, they must also diversify if they are to meet the evolving needs of General Practice in an ever changing NHS landscape.  To enable the delivery of initiatives outside conventional LMC activity and to safeguard YOR LMC, LMC Services Yorkshire CIC was established during 2020.  The CIC is supporting the development and delivery of new services to constituent GPs and members of the wider practice team.

The CIC is also providing benefits to other Local Medical Committees and their constituent General Medical Practitioners and General Medical Practice Teams.

There is the opportunity within the Corporate Affairs Team to carry out duties on behalf of the CIC.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about this role, please contact Angela Foulston, Chief Executive, 07917 357181

The deadline for applications is 5pm, Wednesday 24th November 2021.
