HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT - PART TIME (16-24 HOURS)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a friendly, enthusiastic and experienced Health Care Assistant (NVQ Level 2/3) to join our dynamic Nursing Team at Redgate and Somerset Bridge Medical Centres in Bridgwater, Somerset. The ideal candidate will have a health and social care qualification and at least 2 years experience of working as a Health Care Assistant, preferably in Primary Care.
You will support the existing practice nursing team in the delivery of high quality nursing services to our practice population. You will have full support and supervision to enable you to assist clinical staff in the delivery of prescribed programs of patient care, treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education within your scope of practice and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. You must be willing to learn new skills and attend training if required.
The HCA role is to assist our GP's and nurses in the delivery of care for our patients. Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be confined to:-
Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
Assisting GP's during the performance of minor operations
Delivering the following services - blood pressure monitoring; urinalysis; injections; ear irrigation; spirometry, ECG recording, hypertension reviews, weight management and chaperoning. (Training will be provided if required )
Preparing medical equipment by ensuring infection and control procedures are adhered to
Complete administrative duties as required
Take responsibility for own development with support of line manager
