Applications are invited for a one day per week, GP with Special Interest in Lung Cancer for an initial term of 6 months.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Respiratory Medicine department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
The Respiratory team has twelve consultants and over 30 junior medical staff, including 5 specialist registrars. In addition the wider team includes a well-established group of Respiratory Specialist Nurses, Lung Cancer Specialist Nurses, Respiratory Physiologists (both lung function and sleep specialists) and Physiotherapists. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and to provide education and training to both medical trainees and allied health professionals. There are multiple opportunities for any candidates interested in medical education, with close links with Bristol University and the University of the West of England. The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Trust is active in research and the post-holder will be encouraged to take part in its research programme should they have interests in this area.
Main duties of the job
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical: Outpatient work:
The post-holder will join an enthusiastic and thriving clinical service and provides opportunities to further develop expertise and knowledge in the management of lung cancer referrals. The position is available on a 0.2 WTE job plan.
Duties will include one fixed session on a Friday afternoon Two Week Wait Lung Cancer Clinic at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol. The successful applicant will work closely with our Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist Team who will support the clinic.
The post-holder will also have a further session to attend the weekly Lung Cancer MDT and for administrative time for letters and referral triage.
