An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Prescription Clerk/Pharmacy Dispenser to support our practice in the processing of repeat prescription requests.

This advert is for vacancies in our Medway (Rochester, Chatham & Gillingham) and Maidstone Practices.

You will process repeat prescription requests to a high standard with care and attention to detail and assist patients and staff with prescription related queries. You will liaise with GPs, practice staff, pharmacists and secondary care colleagues as well as having direct contact with patients and carers.

Job spec:

Process all repeat medication requests sent in by patients, community pharmacies and nursing homes in a timely manner and within agreed protocols.

Patient reviews

Liaise with patient and pharmacies regarding prescription queries and requests

Work with clinicians and other practice staff to resolve all medicine related queries

Liaise with hospital staff with reference to discharge and clinic letters

Effectively liaise with external services - ie district nurses - to ensure medications are arranged for housebound patients

Check patient records for chronic disease and drug monitoring and arrange for testing and review as appropriate

Enter relevant patient information accurately onto System 1 and read code data

Carry out system searches as required

Use the prescription tracker to establish the status of electronic prescriptions

Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as requested.

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks which will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

About the Candidate:

General Practice or Pharmacy experience is essential. Applicants will need to be flexible with a positive attitude. You will need to demonstrate good team working and communication skills and an excellent standard of patient care.

EMIS experience would be an advantage.

Note: Successful candidates will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 due to change in law proposed by the government. This is required for individuals working in a Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated health or social care workplace to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as a condition of deployment, unless exempt. Successful candidates will need to provide evidence of two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

We are a dynamic and forward-thinking practice with a growing list size of 6 sites and circa 50,000 patients in Medway and Maidstone. We are the Lead Practice for the Primary Care Network and are also about to embark on an ambitious practice development project which will require us to expand our clinical and non-clinical workforce at pace and want to ensure our infrastructure can keep up!
