GP Receptionist – Manor Road Surgery

Here at Manor Road Surgery we aim to provide the best healthcare to our patients. We are a small and friendly team looking for a part time receptionist (approx. 15-20 hours) to help us deliver the highest level of service.
Main duties of the job
The role of the receptionist is varied and fast paced.
Duties include:
- answering the telephone
- responding to emails
- meeting and greeting patients
General administrative duties include processing prescriptions, scanning and filing
The ideal candidate will be able to work calmly, will be able to prioritise their workload and will work well as part of a team.
About us
We are a small, close-knit friendly team. You will work to support 2 GPs and 3 Practice Nurses.
We are looking for someone who can maintain a friendly but effective first-line of patient contact. Experience of clinical systems (EMIS Web and Docman 10) are highly desirable but training will be given to the right candidate.
The successful candidate will be a fast learner, will have excellent communication skills and work effectively within the wider team to support the Clinicians.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly within the hours of 07:30 - 18:30, sometimes at short notice to cover annual leave and sickness. We are looking for someone who is able to work approx. 15-20 hours per week.
Job responsibilities
RECEPTION DUTIES
- Greet patients and visitors to the practice in an efficient and courteous manner
- Handle incoming telephone calls and emails to the surgery
- Book and triage patient requests for appointments, amend and cancel patient appointments
- Scan and process medical correspondence through the Clinical system
- Handle and process requests for prescriptions in a timely manner
- Enter patient information/messages on to the computer as required

Person Specification
Essential
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
- Experience in a patient/ customer facing environment
- Competent in using Microsoft Packages to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills
- Good sense of humour
Desirable
- Experience of working in a GP Practice / customer service role is desirable
- Experience of Clinical systems
