Salaried GP (6-8 sessions) – Mickleover Medical Centre

There are plenty of advertisements for GP Partner or Salaried GP with a view to partnership roles out there, but why choose us?
Due to retirement and expanding list size, I am very pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to join our team as a (6-8) session Partner or as a Salaried GP with a view to Partnership in the future.
I am Dr Ben Mills, one of three partners at Mickleover Medical Centre, Derby. We are a c12400 patient practice in the Leafy suburbs of Derby, caring for a generally older population.
We’re a well led team, guided by ‘Everywhere’ Emma, our dynamo of a Practice Manager. An excellent admin team (who for example filter out normal results and ‘routine’ letters, massively reducing routine filing for our clinicians) keep the back room wheels turning. Our brilliant reception team are good mix of young charm and tougher, wiser old boots. They know the regulars and when to flag up a real emergency.
With three steady as rocks Salaried Doctors, 2 top notch Nurse Practitioners, and two lovely ‘you hold ‘em and we’ll jab ‘em’ Practice Nurses (obviously not all they do!) make up the rest of the clinical team with a HCA, while a pharmacist and care coordinator answer the questions we can’t.
And when not at work we all transmogrify into variably cyclists, water-skiers, bakers, plant botherers, kickboxers, campanologists, potters, more bakers (a lot of baking goes on), and if you don’t own a dog, we’ll lend you one.
But can you fill these boots?
Charming and chirpy.
Tenacious but not pugnacious.
Empathic but not a push over.
Skin as thick as an elephants elbow.
Furiously busy, leaning in not leaning back - but with a well-developed off switch.
A completer not just a starter.
A Team player, more often a team leader.
Still thrilled and fulfilled by the Good Things we can do in General Practice?
Our interests also lie outside the practice as part of an 11 practice, c100k patient PCN which provides for example a visiting service and first contact physio, more ARRS roles and our pharmacists. We’ve close links to the PCN and have opportunity to influence and be a part of future direction. Becoming a training practice is one of our new building goals, when we have the space.
Living here? Great local schools both state and private, mix of independent retailers and modern ‘mall’ in Derby town centre, along with Nottingham down the road, with Sheffield and Birmingham an hour away with all their shopping and entertainment offers. But we think the up hills and down dales of the Derbyshire countryside is the big attraction, the bucolic ‘battery recharger’, so dust off your hiking boots. The only thing we can’t give you is the seaside and traffic jams - but that’s what six weeks holiday is for and with an extra study week thrown in - should refresh the mind.
Being a GP is tough. Being part of a friendly, efficient team really helps.
