IRO £11,500 - £12,500 per session / NHS Pension available

Full or part time hours to be agreed – Monday to Friday

Six weeks annual leave plus bank/public holidays (pro-rata) and one week study leave per annum

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and ambitious Clinical Lead GP to be responsible for the oversight of the Enhanced Health in Care Home Service provided to the eight care home residents and to be part of our Primary Care team within our well-established organisation. You will receive support and mentorship from our senior management team and have the opportunity to pursue specialist interests as part of our portfolio of services.

The role is based at Princes Park Medical Centre.  You will be working with friendly and professional practice teams to lead and provide high quality services to approximately 400 patients.  MPA ensure a supportive environment through highly developed systems and processes, and support from healthcare professionals, such as our Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Healthcare Assistants and Paramedic Practitioners.

The Clinical Lead role will provide clinical leadership to staff delivering the service in the multidisciplinary care home team (MDT), and support continuous improvement of the service.

What we need

Our Clinical Lead GP Role for the Enhanced Health in Care Home Service profile:

  • Clinical Quality & Patient Safety
  • Provide clinical leadership to staff delivering the service in the multidisciplinary care home team (MDT), and support continuous improvement of the service
  • Lead on the review of clinical aspects of Significant Event reviews, ensuring that learning points are captured and embedded into practice.
  • Ensure that the patient perspective remains at the heart of the service and its decision-making.
  • Ensure that the systems exist to embed patient safety across the service (e.g. record keeping, national and local safety alerts).

Clinical Staffing

  • Be a point of local contact for clinical staff who need support and guidance over quality and safety concerns. This may include a formal role in some staff members’ practice-based appraisals in some instances.
  • Maintain an overview of the service skill mix, from the point of view of access, quality and safety.
  • Support career development of clinical staff, with a particular focus on integration of the service with community services.

Planning/Policy

  • Play a key role in the practice’s planning for the future, bringing the quality and safety concerns to the fore and ensuring these are balanced with organisational and financial concerns.
  • Bring in examples of best practice from local/regional/national models of care that will drive up the quality of care and services.
  • Review service clinical policies and procedures.
