GMS CONTRACT VACANCY IN

OGMORE VALE, BRIDGEND, SOUTH WALES

Due to an impending retirement, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) is seeking expressions of interest from a new or existing GP Partnership to take over the GMS Contract for Ogmore Vale Surgery in South Wales, from the 1st April 2023.

The Surgery is located in the village of Ogmore Vale, in the county borough of Bridgend and is accessible via the M4 and A-roads. It is an area of high social deprivation with many health inequalities where 66% of the population live in the most deprived 40% of areas in Wales.

The surgery is currently operated by a single-handed GP Partner and supported by a very experienced practice team including a GP Locum, Practice Nurse, Practice Manager, and a team of reception and administration staff. It is also supported by the wider community teams, which include Community Pharmacy, Health Visiting and District Nursing.

The Surgery belongs to the Bridgend North Cluster which has 7 neighbouring practices serving approximately 52,000 patients. The Surgery benefits from having access to a number of cluster service initiatives which include Chronic conditions Nurses, Cluster Pharmacists, Physiotherapy and a central Prescribing Hub which manage and process repeat prescriptions and general prescribing queries.

This GMS contract vacancy presents an exciting opportunity to help develop and increase the availability of services that could be offered to the local community, as a branch or standalone practice, and also by being part of a forward-thinking proactive Cluster.

The practice provides essential and additional General Medical Services, as well as a range of Enhanced Services.

  • Cegedim (Vision) clinical system
  • Practice List Size circa 4,300 patients (as at October 2022)
  • No Out of Hours commitment as OOH services are provided by CTMUHB
  • The incoming partnership will need to comply with the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Earnings) Regulations (TUPE) in relation to the existing staff
