BUSINESS MANAGER VACANCY

Due to a planned retirement later this year we are looking to find a new Business Manager to take over the role. This will be a fantastic opportunity to work with a friendly, dynamic and supportive team of 10 GP Partners and 40+ members of staff. A comprehensive and structured handover will be agreed in line with the needs of the successful candidate. As the new Business Manager, you will be joining an incredible team and you will enjoy the close support of a highly skilled Operations Manager and Management Team Assistant.

Leeds City Medical Practice currently operates from three local sites. Plans are currently underway with a view to reducing this to two – both sites are NHS buildings, which means the management of premises is focussed on the relationship with the Landlord who owns both sites. The practice has a good relationship with the Landlord, and they are responsive to the needs of the practice. The plans to reduce the number of sites is expected to be complete by the end of June this year.

The GP Partners work exceptionally well together and provide ongoing support to the management team when needed, delegating and entrusting responsibility to the Business Manager to get on with the job. They still operate on a very traditional basis meeting for coffee and a catch up daily which maintains the supportive and inclusive culture of the practice. The Doctors are hands-on and are happy to get involved in internal training and staff development. There is a focus on motivation and team building with treat days, dress down days and planned events.

A well-established Nursing Team with a Nurse Manager, a very well organised Patient Care Team and a small experienced / efficient Secretarial Team provide the resources needed to deliver a high quality of service to the growing patient list (currently 19k).

Leeds City is a training practice with a focus on learning and development for all staff. We tend to have 4 or 5 training GPs at any one time. The practice is closely involved in the two local PCN’s and the Business Manager may have the opportunity to get involved at Management level in the PCN to help develop services for patients across all practices.

The local Confederation supports the practice to help achieve targets and the GPs all take lead areas of responsibility, working closely with the rest of the team. We are a high achieving GMS practice delivering most Enhanced Services offered. The practices take advantage of all available technology and gets involved across the PCN area to ensure that we make processes as efficient as possible. Leeds City are constantly developing and get involved in projects and initiatives at all levels to work towards continuous improvement.

You will provide leadership for the whole team and be responsible for managing all aspects of the practice/business: Finance; Patient Services; HR; Premises; Health and Safety; Compliance; Stakeholder Relationships; IT and Marketing.

The Practice is happy to support condensed hours - many full-time employees work over four days and this can be considered for this role. The Partners are also willing to consider less than full time hours if the suitable candidate is sufficiently experienced and able to fulfil the role within the hours agreed (a minimum of 32 hours expected over a minimum of 4 days). Although occasional working from home would be acceptable the practice benefits from the Business Manager being present and this would be expected. The Business Manager is also expected to be flexible to meet business needs and to be able to work additional hours if needed which may at times be outside core hours.

Salary will be in the region of £50-60k pro rata depending on experience. Generous holiday entitlement and NHS pension available.

If YOU want to join a great team and you have the experience and drive to take the practice forward (main focus: finance and understanding NHS contracts and Primary Care Funding/Future Plans) then please send an up to date CV along with a covering letter to bev.mclean1@nhs.net by midnight on 19th March 2023.

Initial interviews will be held on the evening of Monday 27th March 2023 at Beeston Hill Health Centre.

If you have any questions or wish to have an informal visit prior to applying/interview please do not hesitate to contact Bev McLean, Business Manager by email or call the main practice number on 0113 467 7500 and we will be happy to arrange.
