Faculty and School: Faculty of Health, Peninsula Medical School

Time: 1 PA / 4 hours per week

or 2 posts of 0.5 PAs / 2 hours per week

Tenure: 3-years fixed term

The University of Plymouth Peninsula Medical School (PMS) is seeking a medical doctor for the role of Locality Lead(s) for Professionalism covering our Taunton and Torbay sites. The role could suit one person or be split between two people, one at each site. Professionalism is embedded across our curriculum and encompasses skills in ethical thinking, communication and teamworking, organization and self-care and Plymouth Medical School has a strong reputation for promoting excellent Professionalism skills which prepare students for future practice.

The post-holder(s) will collaborate with and support the Module Lead and team in the Professionalism strand of the curriculum across Years 3-5 of the programme, in the Torbay and Taunton localities. This is a new role and it is envisaged the post-holder(s) will work with the team across sites and curriculum, but with particular responsibility focussed on base location. Some occasional travel to Plymouth may be required but most meetings can be attended remotely on Zoom.

Responding to concerns raised around professionalism and, where appropriate, meeting with students.

Working with clinical teachers where appropriate, and ensuring assessors understand and can apply professionalism judgement criteria.

Working closely with the undergraduate team and administrative support to ensure smooth running of assessment; appropriate response to concerns; and support for students in difficulty.

Contributing to the development of the Professionalism Theme.
