HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT VACANCY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive GP Practice for 37.5 hours per week. We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant with experience of working within general practice for at least 1 year.
Working under the supervision of the clinical team, you would support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
Job responsibilities will include:
• Undertaking phlebotomy and sending to the laboratory
• Accurately measuring blood pressure with manual or automatic machines
• Measuring temperature, pulse, peripheral oxygen levels, height, weight and BMI, and recording patients’ health status (smoking, alcohol and activity levels)
• Checking and sending urine samples to the laboratory as needed and reporting to the GP for review as needed.
• Removing sutures and clips, and undertaking wound management, as appropriate to training, experience and competency
• Administering injections and immunisations, including taking part in the surgeries annual flu vaccination programme
• Undertaking NHS Health Checks
• Assisting GPs in minor surgery, coil and implant clinics
• The management of clinical stock levels, including stocking clinical rooms and trolleys, rotation and ordering
• Taking responsibility, as a member of the nursing team, for checking fridge temperatures daily and weekly to ensure the cold chain is maintained, and for reporting any cold chain breaches.
• Attending and participating in nurse and practice meetings
• Ensuring all mandatory training is up to date.
About You
The ideal candidate will have minimum of 1 year experience within General Practice or Primary Care setting, be adaptable, highly motivated and relish a challenge. You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team who value teamwork, professional practice, mutual support and a friendly working environment. Healthcare certificate is essential, and knowledge of Emis Web system an advantage.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead GP and Nurse to provide patient care.

Have a main and branch site with all clinical and reception staff working over both. We are a teaching practice and have 3 GP trainees. Sessional Research practice and an active patient participation group with quarterly speaker meetings for our patients. Monthly education meetings are in place for all our clinical team from Consultation Specialists.
