Northgate Medical Practice serve a list of over 21,000 patients over 3 sites in both the City and rural areas, two of which are dispensing practices. In addition we are the Lead Practice for the North Canterbury Primary Care Network.
If you have a specialist interest area, which you want to develop, then we could be the practice for you. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Diabetes, Ophthalmology or Medical Education. However, experience is not fundamental. As a practice we will provide support for those keen to develop these interests.
We have a strong educational ethos and in line with this encourage all our clinicians to develop any specialist interests. To date this has included ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Family Planning, Occupational Health, Commissioning, Paediatrics and Public health.
Locally the Kent and Medway Medical School opened in 2020. It has a particular mandate for delivering up to a third of training in the community and we support that mandate. All of our clinicians are involved in their support and education.
This is an ideal opportunity for Clinician(s) who are looking to combine traditional patient-centered general practice with fantastic lifestyle opportunities.
Canterbury has quick access to the coast in Whitstable (8 miles) and has high speed train links to London (less than 1 hour). It is a popular tourist destination and France a short ferry-ride away or Eurotunnel.
There are 2 large universities - University of Kent and Christchurch. There are good Grammar, state and Private schools. Sporting opportunities are plentiful. Kent County Cricket Club has it’s base here.
