An exciting opportunity has arisen at Swanley Medical Practice for the recruitment of a highly motivated and enthusiastic General Practice Assistant to join our welcoming and well-supported team.

Situated in the town of Swanley, conveniently located just off the M25/A20, Swanley Medical Practice is an integral part of the NHS, dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to our community. Our practice operates across three sites: The Cedars and The Oaks in Swanley, approximately two hundred meters apart, and the third in the village of Hextable. With a patient list of 24,000, we boast a dedicated team, including GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, HCAs, and other clinicians from our Primary Care Network. Notably, we are also a GP Training Practice. We are looking to build on our existing team, we are currently training a Nurse Associate and have three experienced nurses who have joined the practice in the last few years.

Job Title: General Practice Assistant

Location: Swanley Medical Practice, Nightingale Way, Swanley BR8 7UP

Type: Full-time or Part-time (Flexible hours)

Availability: Monday – Friday 08.00-18.30 – Saturday availability beneficial

Salary: from £11.00-15.00/hour depending on experience - training provided for suitable candidates

Job Overview:

As a General Practice Assistant at Swanley Medical Practice, you will provide a support role, conducting administrative tasks, combined with basic clinical duties. You will help free up GPs time and contribute to the smooth running of appointments, improving patients experience in the surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Assist in providing high-quality patient care by supporting the GP team in various administrative and clinical tasks.

Administrative Support: Handle reception duties, manage appointments, and maintain accurate patient records. Efficiently manage phone inquiries and provide excellent patient service.

Clinical Assistance: Aid in basic clinical procedures such as measuring vital signs, collecting specimens, and conducting preliminary assessments under the supervision of the medical team.

Health Promotion: Support health promotion initiatives within the practice by providing information to patients on healthy lifestyle choices and encouraging patients to engage in preventive healthcare measures. Contribute to patient education programs within the practice.

Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of clinical areas.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure smooth operations within the practice.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.

Excellent communication and people skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
