Plymouth Medical students begin in Taunton
Professionalism small groups
We are looking for clinicians (both GPs and Hospital doctors) to facilitate small group discussions with 8-10 students meeting 11 times over the year. Students discuss experiences on clinical placements, focusing on professionalism topics such as ethics, working in teams, managing under pressure and begin to understand working in a complex “real world”.
Facilitators usually take 2 groups – so, 22 sessions over a year. Each group last 2 hours and an additional 2 hours is paid for preparation and administration.
Small group experience is desirable but not essential, training is provided. It is more important to be able to help students explore the questions than provide them with all the answers!
It is fascinating, challenging, and adds an educational arm to a portfolio. University term time only, on fixed days of the week, posts will be advertised in the Spring but for an informal talk and more information email rachel.leyland@plymouth.ac.uk
