Receptionist/Care Navigator – De Winton Field Practice

De Winton Field Practice is a training practice with a current list size of 9,500 patients. The Practice has four GP partners and five salaried GPs. As a training practice we regular have a GP Registrar or medical students working in the practice. We provide high quality primary care services in a refurbished health centre. The practice is located approximately 30 minutes from Cardiff with good transportation links.

We are a friendly multi- disciplinary team, which includes GPs, pharmacy technician, Advanced nurse practitioners, Practice nurses, HCAs and admin team.

The practice currently has a vacancy for a care navigator /receptionist. The number of hours to be worked has some flexibility but the successful candidates will need to be available to work a Monday and Tuesday 8am -1.30pm and Friday 8am – 6.30pm as part of their contracted hours and this is not negotiable. The practice can offer full-time or part-time hours to the right candidate.

Annual leave and Bank Holidays will be pro rata to the hours worked. The practice currently offers 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays whole time equivalent (WTE).

The current salary is £11.44 / hour.

 

Applicants should consider themselves proficient in the following areas:

• Able to always conduct themselves in a Professional and courteous manner.

• Efficient in IT including the use of Microsoft word, excel and outlook email.

• Ensure that enquiries from patients, doctors and other members of staff    are handled efficiently and courteously.

• Work as part of a team to ensure that reception tasks are completed in a timely manner.

• Manage and prioritise a multitude of different requests often under pressure

• Be flexible and be able to provide cover for the duties of other team members during periods of staff absence (holiday and sickness cover essential)

Specifically, a receptionist will be expected to be involved in:-

• Dealing with patients’ enquiries face to face and on the telephone
• Use of the Vision clinical system
• Scanning and Document management using Docman
• Handling of prescriptions
• Receiving and recording requests for visits
• Receipt and sorting of practice mail
• Dealing with patient registrations
• Handling of money for private medical work
• Handling of all forms used within the practice
• Working with the reception team to ensure continuity of service to doctors and patients
• Message handling
• Maintaining both the manual and computer record system
• The chaperoning of patients at doctor’s request
• Receipt of samples from patients and dealing with them appropriately
• Booking emergency ambulances
• Clinic administration including photocopying/faxing
• Supervision of waiting rooms
• Preparation of consulting rooms for use

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.
